If passed, 2R would would raise approximately $100 million annually though a 0.5% sales tax to fund desperately needed affordable housing. YIMBY Denver supports several approaches to address our housing shortage, including funding affordable housing and increasing housing stability, and we endorse Measure 2R in pursuit of those core solutions. YIMBY Denver will continue to advocate for systemic land use, permitting, and building code reforms. In the meantime 2R will increase the supply of below-market housing and its positive impact per dollar spent will be magnified as progress is made on those other fronts.

A strong transit agency is preconditional to successful transit oriented development. This measure would allow the Regional Transportation District (RTD) to continue its existing exemption from the Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR) revenue cap without raising taxes. If measure 7A fails, RTD would face budget cuts that would catastrophically impact its ability to provide useful transit service. When it comes to building dense housing around transit, 7A is mission critical.
